New study shows economic impact of UNK

Just how much money does the University of Nebraska at Kearney contribute to the state's economy? According to a new study from Economic Modeling Specialists, nearly $654 million a year.

The school released the findings Thursday morning.

To arrive at that number, the study took into account student productivity,
spending in Nebraska each year by the university itself, and spending by students and visitors from outside the state.

UNK Chancellor Doug Kristensen says the study demonstrates that the school is a major economic engine and offers a tremendous return on investment to students and taxpayers.
