Catholics speak out on controversial health care policy

by Dara Newson

Catholics around the country are calling it an attack against their religious freedom. That's the new health insurance policy that will soon force employers to cover contraception and abortion as part of preventative care regardless of religious beliefs.

The Catholic Bishop of Lincoln, wrote a letter to local Catholic churches saying, quote, "the present Secretary, Kathleen Sebelius, a bitter, fallen-away Catholic, now requires that all insurance, even when issued privately, must carry coverage for evil and grave sin."

Here's also what Father Joseph Walsh of Hastings St. Cecilia has to say:

"We see life as a gift. It is always good in whatever form it comes, because it's a gift of the divine image in our midst."

Religious organizations that do not provide contraceptive coverage based on religious belief will have until August 1, 2013 to comply.
