Guilty of Second Degree murder. That was the verdict handed down earlier today by a Howard County jury in the cold case murder trial of John Oldson.

After over two decades the cold case murder mystery has been shut. John Olson was found guilty of second degree murder in the death of 31 year old Catherine Beard.

Around 2:00 Friday afternoon the 12 person jury consisting of 8 women and 4 men came to a decision.

John Oldson was found guilty of 2nd degree murder. Members of Cathy's family reacted to the news.

Valley County Sheriff Casey Hurlburt reopened the cold case a few years ago.

John Oldson will be sentenced April 1st in Howard County.
