Ord murder trial moves to Howard County

A judge has moved the trial for a decades old murder near Ord from Valley County to Howard County. 46 year old John Oldson, is charged with first degree murder in the death of 31 year old Catherine Beard.

The defense requested the move because of pre-trial publicity in the small town.

Now, surveys will be sent out to potential jury members in Howard County.

The motion to accept the change of venue will take place on December 18th.

The trial is set to begin January 28th.

Beard disappeared in 1989 and her remains were found outside Ord in 1992.

Oldson was arrested last January in Missouri after new evidence turned up and new witnesses came forward.

Oldson will continue to be held in Valley County because Howard County doesn't have a jail.
