PC sales slump against portable counterparts

These days you don't often hear folks running to the computer store to grab the hottest PC. iPads, mini tablets and laptops are the latest must have technology devices.

Whether you blame it on the tablets, Nooks or the mini iPads, PC's just aren't selling like they used to.

According to a CNN Money report back in August of 2012, PC shipments totaled 86.7 million units that quarter, which was down point one percent from 2011.

Computer Hardware in Hastings says they're also seeing the downward trend in PC sells.

"Every ten in one customer, it's iPad 10 to 1 computer, again we see more people buying iPads more than computers, but there still are some pretty good sales on the computers. We're seeing a lot of laptops more than desktop towers these days," said Thomas Riatt, Computer Hardware.

Computer Hardware sees more adults purchasing the portable devices.

They say customers are interested in the games, functionality and easy navigation.
