There are a number of Downtown Revitalization projects, including one right here in Hastings. And Lieutenant Governor Rick Sheehy announced Thursday Phase I of the project.
Along with several other cities, Hastings is a recipient of the Community Development Block Grant.
The funding will prepare the city to undertake Phase I which is planning. Among many projects, improvements include street, sidewalk, and building upgrades.
"Communities of Hastings, Grand Island, Holdrege and McCook are all receiving $30,000 in CDGB funds to undertake phase one of the downtown revitalization project," said Sheehy.
Starting the Phase II process, which is construction, there are awards of $350,000 each in CDGB funds going to Columbus, Elwood, Fremont, Kearney and Tecumseh.
