The pilot killed in the crash of a small plane Thursday night in Blair has been identified as 92-year-old Robert Herrick of Nickerson, Nebraska.

The plane went down nose first around 5:15 p.m. on the property of Woodhouse Auto, a lot known as "Truck Mountain".

The single engine Ercoupe, built in 1946, crashed in-between four Ford pickups.

"There's some debris spread over a considerable distance and the aircraft landed nose down in amongst some pickup trucks that are up there in storage on top of the hill," said Lt. Aaron Barrow.

The Blair Police Department says Herrick died on impact. An autopsy has been ordered.
