Pipeline leak confirmed near Fairmont

A leak in a pipeline in southeast Nebraska last week spilled as much as 150 gallons of gasoline in a farm field.

San Antonio-based Nu Star Energy confirmed the leak near Fairmont.
The landowner reported smelling gasoline fumes and discovered the leak in an 8-inch diameter pipeline on Wednesday.

Nu Star Energy says it immediately shut down the pipeline.

The pipe carries gasoline from Geneva to South Dakota.

No water, they say, was contaminated.

The company says the spill was cleaned up and the line has since been repaired.

The cause of the leak, however, is under investigation.
