Pleasanton residents vote on school bond

People in one Central Nebraska town also had the chance to cast their ballots Tuesday for an $8.9 million school bond.

Looking at the results, the bond was approved. 57 percent of the votes cast were for the school bond. Roughly 43 percent were cast against the bond.

A total of 456 votes were made Tuesday.

The school bond voted on Tuesday was set up to replace the elementary school and for construction on other things within the school district including new locker rooms and a new wrestling room.

News 5 spoke with the school's superintendent about why the bond is needed for the school.

The village board will meet to vote on closing part of Church Street to begin construction.

The current school facilities in Pleasanton were built in 1936 and 1954.
