Prairie Winds Art Center debuts "Three Men and an Art"
Prairie Winds Art Gallery is hosting a new show for October. Three Men and an Art, is named after, of course, Three Men and a Baby. Ken Bassett is one of the three men who is the painter in the group. There's also a wood turner and a photographer. News 5 spoke with Ken about the details on their art and their new show.
Ken: This show is at Prairie Winds Art Gallery. About eight of our shows per year are dedicated to the members themselves and this happens to be us. Amy: We have some beautiful paintings around us and these are your works, correct? Ken: This one is mine. Amy: Can you tell us a little about it and what inspires you as an artist? Ken: I have camped at Merritt Reservoir a lot. That old tree, I always go back to it. I'm always afraid it's going to fall on in. I use the tree a lot for several of the paintings. The boats I put in for color. I probably saw those at McConaughy. And I've never sailed, but the shapes and the colors always fascinate me and make for good artwork. Amy: We want to talk about these other artists. Harry Adams is the wood turner and you brought some samples of his. Ken: Harry Adams is just a master at turning wood. This particular piece is honey locust. I like it because it's so unusual. It's not really symmetrical at all and it's not for sale because this is out of my private collection. But he has so many others that are just as fascinating. This one is magnolia. Amy: Beautiful pieces of work. And Keith Espeland is the photographer. If you want to see more work from Espeland, Adams and Bassett this October 5th they're going to have their opening from 5:30 to 8:00 at the Prairie Winds Art Center.
