With the mild weather we've been seeing this winter camping season might kick off a little early this year. It's just in time for the first day of the RV and Boat Expo in Grand Island.
It's the 35th year in a row that the event has been held at Fonner Park.
News 5's Katie Gauthier was at the Expo Friday and shows us there's a little something for everyone.
"We've got the biggest show ever," said Tony Staab.
Tony Staab, co-owner of Rich and Son's Rv Headquarters says this year's RV & Boat show is one for the ages.
"We've got a lot of new things exciting to see," said Staab.
RVs are decked out with flat screen tvs, fireplaces, reclining chairs, luxurious living space.
"Chandeliers with the ceiling fans in them," said attendee Phil Hand.
And more.
With how the state of the economy was a year ago, some businesses suffered. But, Tony says the recreational department didn't see a dip in numbers.
"One thing we've found is people, they work hard and they wanna play hard too," Staab said.
And Expo attendee Phil Hand agrees.
"Well, I never really thought that it dropped off all that much from the camping standpoint because that made it a little bit more of an economical vacation," Hand said.
Camping can be very cost efficient.
"Don't go as far, go someplace, Nebraska's got a lot of parks you can go to and I've been to a lot of them and I enjoy them all," said Hand.
"It's going out and spending time with your family and just getting away from everyday life," said Staab.
With over 100 boats and RVs you're sure to find one that fits your needs.
"We have something for every price point, you know," said Staab.
And there's no penalty for day dreaming about the big rigs that cost tens of thousands of dollars.
"I go in and out of most of the big ones I even brought my camera and take a picture or two," said Hand.
After searching through the exhibit, I think I found the only thing that I can afford. But they don't lie when they say there is a little something here for everyone.
The Rv and Boat Expo is in the Exhibition Building at Fonner Park.
The event lasts Friday night until 8:00 pm.
Or you can stop by Saturday from noon to 8:00 pm and Sunday from noon to 5:00 pm.
