Rain brings some relief for farmers

A little bit greener out there Monday and a few more smiles on farmers' faces. That's because in the middle of this hot, dry summer season, it was a huge relief for corn farmers to see the sky open up.
We finally got a good, soaking rain.

As far as rainfall totals, some in the central part of the state saw anywhere from an inch to three inches of rain.

But the question still out there is, was the weather enough to help save the dying crops?

Well, UNL Extension Educator Ron Seymour says it's a start.

One inch of rain this weekend will provide three day's worth of moisture.

But farmers in the area say the rain wasn't the only welcome change.
The relief from the heat is also significant. It'll help those plants hold their moisture. And hopefully will help move along corn production.
