Warm chili cookoff on a chilly day

Nothing takes the bite out of a cold February day like a spicy bowl of chili.

That's exactly what about 700 people did in Grand Island for the 25th Annual Red Cross Classic Chili Cook-off.

Forty seven chefs from across the state brought their unique chili to the competition.

The Red Cross says they wouldn't be able to do what they do without event like this.

"It means everything to the Red Cross," said Donna Titman, Red Cross Executive Director. "We wouldn't be able to provide the services without the donors and volunteers that help us out so it means a tremendous amount."

News 5's own Jeniffer Berry, Amy West, Travis Klanecky and Josh Egbert were on hand to dish up some chili.

Last year's event raised $10,000. Organizers say they're pleased with the turnout given the weather outside.
