Report analyzes financial effect of XL Pipeline
Will the new pipeline be an economic boom or bust? A new report says expect big money when the keystone XL Pipeline is built in Nebraska.
Economist Ernie Goss of the Goss Institute for Economic Research shows Nebraska will gain more than 5,000 new jobs a year and hundreds of millions of dollars in the investment from construction. The report says the operation and construction of the pipeline by TransCanada will add nearly $1.8 billion to the overall economic activity in Nebraska. Opponents of the pipeline disagree with the report saying most of those jobs will be part time jobs added during construction. Governor Dave Heineman received the final evaluation report by the Nebraska DEQ on January 4th. He had 30 days from the 4th to make a final decision. |
