The winter months are closing in meaning we need to start bundling up. So the Hastings Salvation Army is kicking off their annual coat drive.

The Girl Scouts have already donated 470 items to the cause. Hats, scarves, gloves, coats and boots off all sizes are the items needed the most.

"We know that the season is not going to hold up much longer and temperatures are already starting to drop. So, we just encourage people to bring in slightly used, well seasoned garments that we can put out for people to utilize during the season," said Major Abe Tamayo.

You can drop your items at The Salvation Army at 400 South Burlington Ave.

And, if you're looking for a way to help victims of hurricane Sandy here's how. The Salvation Army is accepting monetary donations to go towards the immediate assistance of those affected by the disaster.
