It's a classic holiday treat, candy canes. Saturday at Chautauqua Park in Hastings children could hunt for the tasty treat at the 5th annual Candy Cane Hunt.

Over 50 kids took part in the hunt for nearly 200 candy canes.

Hastings Parks and Recreation Department say they wanted to come up with an "Easter egg like" hunt in the Winter and what better way than a Candy Cane Hunt.

"It kind of came off the idea of having a traditional Easter Egg Hunt and some people in the community said hey why don't we have a hunt in the winter time and what better way to do it than with a Candy Cane Hunt," said Ryan Martin, the Recreational Superintendent.

Special prizes were given out to children who found a candy cane with a special ribbon on it.
