Senator Fischer wraps up trip to Afghanistan

Nebraska U.S. Senator Deb Fischer is wrapping up a trip abroad. The Republican spent part of the weekend in Afghanistan and Israel with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and Republican senators from Wyoming, Texas and Arizona.

The group discussed political and security challenges facing the Middle East with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

They also met with Afghan political leaders, U.S. military personnel, and top military commanders including, General John Allen, Commander of the International Security Assistance Force.

While in Afghanistan, Senator Fischer also met with deployed service-members from Nebraska.

Senator Fischer and her colleagues will return to the U.S. Tuesday.
