Senator Nelson comments on drought
Nebraska senator Ben Nelson doesn't expect much improvement for farmer dealing with the drought conditions. He said that Wednesday after visiting the National Drought Mitigation Center in Lincoln.
Nelson met with members of the center Wednesday afternoon where he was briefed on the severity and extent of the drought that is affecting much of the Midwest. Climatologists gave an overview of how much of the country is in the affected area and if there is any relief in sight. The news wasn't good. Sen. Nelson says Nebraska will have a rough time recovery but that it would have been smoother with the passing of certain provisions in the farm bill. Thursday night here on News 5, well take you inside the National Drought Mitigation Center. Josh Egbert spoke with those climatologists Wednesday about the drought and how they produce the drought report each week. |
