At least one state senator thinks Nebraska needs to go in the opposite direction of Heineman when it comes to income tax.

State Senator Danielle Conrad introduced a bill at the capital which would not only keep the state income tax, but increase it for the wealthy.

Another bill introduced, among the 655 facing lawmakers this session, to eliminate the state death penalty.

That measure, introduced by Ernie Chambers, would replace the death penalty with life in prison.
