Sessions offer parents guidance on sex education
Once young teens hit puberty stage, it's time to have "the talk." Some parents cringe at the thought, others just need a little direction about how to have the talk about "sex" without scaring their kids off.
Staff members in the Grand Island school district and Susan Goodman of the Central Health Center are holding sessions this week with middle school parents so those parents can go home and have a chat with their kids about sex. "Wonderful idea is how parents are communicating with other parents and giving the other parents permission, if their child asks a question and I'm not around can I answer that for them," said Susan Goodman, Central Health Center. Hall County ranks 3rd in the state for teen pregnancy rates. Educators say when parents have an open communication young teens delay sexual intercourse. |
