Seward proclaimed as "The Christmas City"
It was a heartwarming start to the holiday season for residents of Seward. The City of Seward is declared Nebraska's Hometown Christmas City.
Lt Governor Rich Sheehy delivered a proclamation Saturday signed by Governor Heineman and the Secretary of State John Gale. Minden has hosted events as "The Christmas City" in Nebraska for a number of years. The Seward Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors says they do not wish to compete with Minden or take way from what they have going. "They're being recognized as a Hometown Christmas community because they have the ability to pull their community together to be able to hold many many celebrations. So this is just a great way for us to kick off the Christmas season," said Sheehy. Saturday night residents also celebrated the second annual spirit of Christmas lighted holiday parade. |
