Shelton family escapes home fire

A family in Shelton was able to make it out of their home okay after a fire started in the attic of their home. It happened just before 5:00 Saturday afternoon on E street in Shelton.

According to the Shelton Fire Department, the fire started in attic of the home.

The home has a double attic which made the fire difficult to fight.

The Shelton fire chief believes the cause of the fire is electrical.

The fire was contained to the attic way the home did suffer smock and water damage.

Although the home is not a total loss, the family will be staying elsewhere tonight.

"The rest of the house has a little smoke damage and water damage from putting them out, but otherwise everything inside is still intact," said Shelton Fire Chief Jim Pederson.

The Gibbon Fire Department was also called to the scene to assist with the fire. No injuries were reported.
