Small earthquake shakes sandhills area

If you were near Mullen, Nebraska Sunday night you might have felt the earth shake under your feet, if just ever so slightly.

An earthquake measuring in at 2.7 on the Richter scale hit about 13 miles northwest of Mullen around 10:00 pm Mountain Time Sunday night.

According to the Hooker County sheriff Lynn Nichols, he and his son felt their house shake a little.

The good news is that there was damage and no reported injuries as a result of the quake.
