State petitions appeal for withdrawal from United States

There's an appeal to the federal government to allow Texas to "withdraw from the United States of America" following President Barack Obama's re-election.

And while it doesn't have the support of the Lone Star State's governor, the state isn't the only one with a petition.

Groups in 19 other states have started petitions asking the Obama administration to peacefully allow them to leave the United States and form their own governments.

One of them, Nebraska. Tuesday night the petition has 4500 signatures.

It was posted on the White House's petition page Monday.

The threshold for eliciting a White House response is 25,000 signatures within 30 days.
