State works to bridge gap in child welfare system

The state has been working to reform the broken child welfare system. Nebraska legislators are joining to push for better support for Nebraska youth who transition or age out of foster care programs.
A conference was held Thursday in Lincoln called Bridging the Gap.

At the State Capitol a hearing was conducted to the Legislative Health and Human Services committee on Legislative Resolution 537m - a study conducted by Senator McGill to improve Nebraska's foster care system.

Hastings Living Center a new housing facility for young adults who have outgrown the foster care system, highlight the importance of the states action.

Data gathered at the conference will help identify unmet needs and gaps in services available to youth who transition or age out of Nebraska's foster care system.
