Don Stenberg comments on possible run for governor

Could Nebraska's State Treasurer be the next candidate for governor? It's the question being raised Thursday.

The Omaha World Herald is reporting the Republican said during a press conference on a different issue Thursday that its "unlikely, but possible."

Stenberg battled Deb Fischer in the U.S. Senate primary and was the state's attorney general before becoming state treasurer.

At this time, the only Republican in the race is Rick Sheehy who stepped down nearly a week ago as Lieutenant Governor.

There is speculation he will drop out of the race, but there's been no formal announcement.
