A student pilot from North Platte is dead after the crash of his plane in Gothenburg Sunday.

55 year old James Ross was the only occupant of the Cessna 150 two seat aircraft that crashed just after 10:30 a.m. at the Gothenburg airport.
When authorities arrived, they found the plane upside down on its wings approximately 50 yards east of the beginning of the grass runway.

Ross was found dead at the scene.

An autopsy will be performed Monday.

Investigators from the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will also be investigating.
