Tattered American flags exchanged for new ones
With high winds in Nebraska, American flags can take a beating. That's why All Faiths Funeral Home in part with News 5 held a flag exchange today in Grand Island.
Residents were able to exchange tattered flags for a new 3 by 5 foot flag. Boy Scouts folded the flags in a traditional manner. The flags will be retired by the Boy Scouts during a traditional flag-burning ceremony. Free Hot dogs and snow cones were served during the event. A car show also took place in the parking lot of the All Faiths Funeral Home, displaying around 70 cars. "It's just really exciting as a funeral home owner to bring people here for a happy occasion and to celebrate," said Dan Naranjo, owner of All Faiths Funeral Home. "To celebrate our community, to celebrate our country, and to celebrate the patriots of this great nation." News 5 has been involved with the Great American Flag Exchange for five years. Other locations include the All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island, Hastings, and Kearney. |
