It's become a summer time tradition in Hastings, but, this year there will be no Hastings YMCA Duck Race.
After discussing it with the board of directors, the YMCA made the decision to no longer hold the event because the cost to run the Duck Race continued to rise.
Top three prizes of the race combined to be $10,000 worth of cash each of the last two years.
The United Way of South Central Nebraska has agreed to take over the event beginning in 2013.
Back in 1999, the Hastings Family YMCA began the race as a way to help create scholarships for low income families.
The race has been held at Heartwell Park and at the lazy river at the Hastings Aquacourt.
