Kids and their dogs from all over the state are in Hastings this weekend for the 4th Annual Canine Companions for Life Nebraska 4-H Dog Expo.

The event is being held at the Adams County Fairgrounds.

The dog expo has a variety of breeds.

Some of the categories include, agility, showmanship, and obedience.

There is one big difference between this event and the Nebraska State Fair, the competitors are able to sit down with the judges and discuss what they are looking for, which is a plus for the kids.

The judges visit with the kids," said Jennie Theesen. "They tell them what they're looking for. They show them how to improve and they are constantly telling them how to move to the next level and improve and encourage them to get to the next level to keep them moving up, which is really important."

Theesen adds the event is a way to educate children through clinics.

The dog expo wraps up Sunday at 5 p.m.
