TransCanada completes portion of Keystone XL

Tools

A portion of the Keystone XL pipeline in Oklahoma and Texas is now halfway complete.

TransCanada says the smaller segment of the controversial project should be completed by the end of the year, but the larger pipeline is still waiting for federal approval.

About 850 workers in Oklahoma and 3,000 more in Texas are working on the project in mostly temporary jobs.

The pipeline would transport 700,000 gallons of oil daily from the pipeline hub in Oklahoma to refineries near Houston.
