Trial for 4 year old's assailant could see venue change

Abraham Richardson is accused of sexually assaulting a 4 four year Grand Island girl back in October. That trial could begin next month.
But, it might not happen in Hall County.

Hall County Public Defender Gerry Piccolo filed a motion for a change of venue.

Pretrial publicity is one of the reasons for the motion because selecting a jury in Hall County would be difficult.

The 26 year old Richardson is charged with first-degree sexual assault of a child and kidnapping.

The incident took place in October of 2011 at Grand Island's Riverbend Apartments.

According to court documents, the state isn't opposed to the request as long as the new venue is within an hour and a half of Hall County.
The motion was filed before Christmas.

But, still no decision.

Richardson's pretrial is schedule for February 6th.
