A monetary gift was given to the school not of a hundred dollars or even a thousand but $1 million.

The leadership gift was given by Good Samaritan Hospital to support the $19 million Health Science Education complex on campus.

The new complex will enable UNK and the University of Nebraska Medical Center to expand enrollment opportunities in the existing nursing division by nearly 50 percent.

"We face critical shortages in health care professionals including doctors, nurses, physicians assistants and so many other allied health professionals, particularly in rural Nebraska," said UNK Chancellor Doug Kristensen.

The UNK Chancellor added that the new complex will help address those needs.

The final location of the new complex has yet to be determined.

Construction will likely happen on the west side of campus, consisting of state of the art clinical, physiology and anatomy laboratories.
