UNK students accepted a challenge and made a huge difference in cracking down on food wasted at the college cafeteria. They reduced the amount of food waste by 714 pounds.

It was part of Project Clean Plate put on by the Residence Hall Association and UNK Dining Services.

Students tracked the amount of waste accumulated during lunch and supper for two days.

After the initial numbers, RHA and UNK Dining put in place an education week that informed students how to waste less food.

Project Clean Plate will donate the 714 pounds of food to Crossroads in Kearney at a special event on February 11th.
