The countdown to Election Day continues and the race for Nebraska's U.S. Senate seat continues to heat up with both candidates trying to top the other with endorsement announcements.

Kerrey is expected to announce the endorsement of former Republican Senator Check Hagel at press conferences Thursday in Omaha and Lincoln.

Hagel served as Nebraska's Senator from 1997 to 2009; 4 of those years overlapping with Kerrey's terms as Senator.

Meanwhile, Republican challenger Deb Fischer will have Arizona senator and 2008 Republican presidential nominee John McCain campaigning for her Friday in Omaha.

Thursday, Fischer will be campaigning in several cities across Nebraska including stops in Grand Island and Kearney.

Senator Mike Johanns and Congressman Adrian Smith will join her for those events.
