Unemployment insurance set to decrease in Nebraska
With fewer unemployment benefits being paid out to Nebraskans, employers in the state will see the cost for unemployment insurance go down next year.
Thanks to an improved economy and fewer people out of work, the state has paid out less in benefits allowing its unemployment trust fund to grow. The state paid out $130 million in fiscal year 2012, down from $168 million in 2011. At the end of November, Nebraska's unemployment rate was at 3.7 percent, down from 4.3 percent a year ago. About 48,000 businesses in Nebraska pay unemployment taxes. |
