Hundreds turned out in Lincoln to support the proposed Keystone XL Pipeline. Members of the Laborers International Union of North America #1140 and reps for the AFL-CIO gathered to voice support.
Union members said the proposed $7 billion pipeline will dramatically improve U.S. energy security.
They also said the pipeline will generate $150 million in state and local tax revenue and will create hundreds of jobs in Nebraska.
Opponents said Nebraska's natural habitat could be harmed, they fear leaks and potential hazards to groundwater.
