Hundreds lined the streets of Downtown Hastings Saturday morning to honor Nebraska's Heroes.

Though the air was cold, the people were warm with pride as they cheered on local veterans and area marching bands who were participating in the Veterans Recognition Parade.

Local girls, boys, and cub scouts, as well as area businesses showed their support for servicemen and woman past and present by carrying flags as they marched or rode on floats.

"It was a little tough when the clapping came along and they saluted the American flag," said Vietnam Veteran, Craig Williams. "It's always a tear jerker but none-the-less it's what we believe in. It's who we are as American Legion, as United States Veterans."

Sponsored by the Hastings Free Masons and Chamber of Commerce the parade will take place on the first Saturday in November of next year.
