Stomach and respiratory illnesses are making their rounds in Central Nebraska.

Dr. Michael Johnson with the Hastings Family Practice says that he's seen a few cases of vertigo. He says it's a viral illness that affects the inner ear. Patients experience dizziness and a feeling of spinning.

The spinning is brought on by a sudden change in position.

Symptoms of vertigo also include nausea.

He says that it's a viral infection that comes and goes.

Vertigo can also be symptoms of other illnesses including a chronic inner ear problem. Vertigo is also a symptom for stroke.
