Basketball players of all levels can test their skills this weekend in Hastings.

It's the 32nd Annual Whoopers and Hoopers.

Over 1,000 players are on 135 teams.

The Hastings Chamber of Commerce puts on the event and says it brings around 3 thousand people to the city.

That flood of visitors brings in an estimate of around 1 million dollars for the city of Hastings.

"People maybe look at this and say well the only people that really benefit are the convenience stores, the cafes, the bars, and things like that but in reality there's that residual effect where the people that they do frequent more often have to buy other products from other people in the community."

Whoopers and Hoopers lasts through Sunday.

It costs $4.00 for adults and $2.00 for students.

Because of the influx of people this holiday weekend, the Nebraska State Patrol is conducting high visibility enforcements across Adams County, alongside the Hastings Police Department and Adams County Sheriff's Office.
