Zombies come out in Hastings and Kearney
Zombies invaded not one, but two of the Tri-Cities Friday night. Kearney held its first Zombie Walk and Pub Crawl on the bricks. The Downtown Hastings Association held an event of its own.
The infestation started in the city parking lot and from there it probably made a few drivers and pedestrians turn their heads downtown. About a hundred children, college students and adults, zombified themselves. From the makeup and the ripped clothes to the stiff corpselike mannerisms and the way they all just groaned and mumbled about wanting to eat human brains. These participants went all out for what's become a cultural phenomenon. "It's definitely different and actually really fun to be someone you're normally not and just act out in character," said Chelsea Maccann. There was also a $100 award for the best themed zombie group. Hastings Museum participated Friday night, too. They showed Night of the Living Dead in 3-D. |
