Darlene M. (Hemje) Purdy, age 87, of Lincoln, Nebraska passed away on June 24, 2012.

She was born on May 15, 1925 in Hildreth, Nebraska to Fooke and Risete "Minnie" (Keiser) Hemje. She went to Hildreth High School, where she met her future husband, Jim Purdy. The high school sweethearts were married on August 31, 1947 in Hildreth. Their son, Jim, became a part of their family in 1957, and then their daughter, Nancy in 1960. Darlene was a member of the Southwood Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Nebraska and she also enjoyed golfing, needlepoint, and shopping.

Darlene is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jim; her daughter Nancy Ritchie; and her three grandchildren, all of Lincoln; her sisters Lucille Wilken of Minden, Doris Friedrich of Castle Rock, CO, and Sheralynn Alberts of Hildreth; her brother Don Hemje of Syracuse; and many nephews, and nieces.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her son Jim; her brothers Alfred and Lamoine Hemje; and her sister Lorraine Warnken.

A funeral service in Darlene's honor will be Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 3:00 PM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home 6800 So. 14th Street.
