Peggy Lee "Peg" Dittmer, 80, of Aurora formerly of Clarks, died on Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at Hamilton Manor in Aurora. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 6th at 11:00 a.m. at the chapel of Solt Funeral Home in Central City with Sister Mary Arie officiating. Visitation will be Friday, October 5th from 5 to 7 p.m. at Solt Funeral Home in Central City. Interment is in the Clarks Cemetery.

Peggy was born on January 5, 1932, in Omaha, to Russell B. and Doris W. (Stege) Lane. The family lived in Washington, Omaha where Peggy attended Omaha Tech High School, and in Columbus where Peggy graduated from Kramer High School in 1950. While in high school, Peggy was president of the pep club and she taught tap dance and ballet. On April 14, 1952, Peggy was united in marriage to Lester L. Dittmer at the Episcopal Church in Columbus. They lived in Colorado and Kansas while Lester was in the service. In 1953, they returned to Nebraska and lived in Clarks before moving to the farm south of Clarks. In 2009, they moved to Aurora.

Peggy was raised in the Episcopal Church and then raised her family in the United Methodist Church in Clarks. She taught dance and jazzercise; and for 24 years, Peggy and her sister, Judy Brazee, managed the Clarks swimming pool and taught swimming lessons to children in the area. Peggy loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She grew up around the water and spent countless hours swimming and she especially enjoyed spending time at her parent's cabin on Wagner Lake near Columbus. Peg also enjoyed roller skating, ice skating, and painting scenes on buildings. Each and every person that Peggy knew, she loved and valued; and she always cheered for the underdog.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 60 years, Lester of Aurora; three children - Lee J. and Jolene Dittmer of Clarks; Doe Dee Dittmer of Aurora; and Tad and Roxanne Dittmer of Clarks; eight grandchildren - Brendan and Natalie Dittmer; Tamara and Jayme Hans; Carlee and Jason Connot; Dage Detter; Preston Detter; Sierra Dittmer, Shelbi Dittmer, and Bo Dittmer; six great grandchildren - Ella Claire Dittmer; Ayden, Kyler, and Taya Hans; Jaycee Connot; and Colby Detter; two sisters - Jerry and Hub Schumacher Red Bluff, California; and Judy and Burt Brazee of Columbus; and nieces and nephews.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents.
