Elna L. Schneiderheinz, 77, of Central City, died on Saturday, October 6, 2012, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 10th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Central City with Rev. Msgr. Nelson Newman officiating. Visitation will be at Solt Funeral Home in Central City on Tuesday, October 9th from 5 to 7:30 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. vigil service (please note the change of place in visitation). Interment will be in the Central City Cemetery. Solt Funeral Home of Central City is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.soltfh.com. Elna Lorraine was born on November 24, 1934, in Merrick County to Lyman and Vera (Rallens) Pierce. Elna grew up in the Marquette and Central City areas and received her early education in Marquette and graduated from Central City High School. On April 18, 1952, she was united in marriage to Daniel R. "Dan" Schneiderheinz. They made their home in Central City and in the early years of their marriage, Elna worked at Schneiderheinz Market. From 1963 through 1996, Dan served as Merrick County Sheriff and Elna was dispatcher and cook for the sheriff department. They retired in 1996. Dan died on September 26. 2011. Elna was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Central City. She enjoyed cooking and reading; but her greatest joy came from the time she spent with her seven grandchildren. Those left to cherish her memory are her children - Doug and Sheryl Schneiderheinz of Grand Island; Connie Wyman of Laurel, Montana; and Dan and Janelle Schneiderheinz of Central City; seven grandchildren - Tyson and Fawn Wyman; Tara Wyman; Katie Kluthe and Brandon; Halie and Jared Osburn; Justin Schneiderheinz; and Tucker and Tanner Schneiderheinz; and three great grandchildren - Karter and Karlie Kluthe and Tycee Wyman. Elna was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and one brother - Lloyd Pierce.
