Hastings resident, Bessie Reining, 94, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.

Rosary will be Sunday, November 25, 2012; 7:00 P.M. at Butler Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, November 26, 2012; 10:00 A.M. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Hastings, Nebraska with Father Michael Houlihan and Monsignor Adrian Herbek officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska. Visitation will be Saturday, November 24, 2012; 9:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M., Sunday, November 25, 2012; 1:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be given to St. Michael’s Church Endowment Fund or American Cancer Society.

Bessie was born July 19, 1918 in Nuckolls County, Nebraska to Henry W. & Antonia (Karmazin) Herbek. She graduated from Notre Dame Academy in Omaha in 1936 and moved to Hastings where she worked for Jones Drug Store, was a homemaker and worked for Hastings Auto Auction for 17 years. Bessie married Norbert Reining on October 7, 1947 at Assumption Catholic Church in Deweese, Nebraska; he preceded her in death on October 3, 2008. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and Altar Society where she served as Chairwoman for the funeral dinners. Bessie enjoyed cooking, baking, entertaining, cross stitching, and crocheting.

Bessie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norbert Reining; ten brothers and sisters; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson, Evan McClanahan.
