Sutton resident Harvey “Gene” Eugene Hoelscher, 84, died Sunday, November 18, 2012, at Mary Lanning HealthCare in Hastings, NE.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 23, 2012, at the Federated Church in Sutton, NE with Rev. Eric Biehl officiating. Private family inurnment will be at a later date. There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be designated at a later time.
Harvey “Gene” Eugene Hoelscher was born October 15, 1928, to Harvey and Daisey (Ross) Hoelscher 1 mile North and 2 miles West of LaCrosse, KS. He was drafted into the United States Army on March 2, 1951 and served as a Medic until he was honorably discharged on February 20, 1953. On June 26, 1954, he married Ava Lucille Chritton in Concordia, KS. He was employed as a lifelong “trucker” retiring in 2002, to stay home and spend time with his wife.
He was a member of the VFW, enjoyed golfing, spending time with his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was an avid Husker and KC Chiefs fan.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ava of Sutton, NE; son, Brad Hoelscher of Phoenix, AZ; daughters, Brenda (Chris) Manning of Exeter, NE; Lori Rasmussen (John Levitt) of York, NE; Vicki (Jack) Softley of Sutton, NE; son, Trent (Janet) Hoelscher of Pierce, NE; daughter, Dawn (Don) Claus of Sutton, NE; 17 grandchildren, Eric, Kara, Ross, Ryan, Renae, Robyn, Nicole, Dale, Carley, Jamie, Cassandra, Shaundee, Logan, Jenny, Jessie, Joshua, Claydon and Mandi; 21 great-grandchildren, Jaiden, Taylie, Kyan, Gabe, Natalie, George, Gavin, Tatum, Damon, Dylan, Kadence, Kolton, Chloie, Raegan, Grace, Abel, Addison, Cooper, Bindi, Taylor and Makayla.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandchildren, Jackson Softley, Jennifer Claus, Kyu Huynh; one sister and one brother.
