Marian S. (Jeppesen) Andersen passed away on Friday, November 30, 2012 at home in Lincoln, NE surrounded by her family. Marian was born on July 2, 1917 to Ole and Anna Jeppesen in Guide Rock, Nebraska. She was baptized and confirmed at the Danish Lutheran Church at Abdal. She attended school in Guide Rock, NE.
Marian was united in marriage to Kenneth Andersen on May 2, 1941 in Superior, Nebraska. This union was blessed with two daughters, Janet and Jean. They were long time residents of Superior. They moved to Lincoln in 2000 to be closer to Janet and Jean and their families. Both Kenneth and Marian were lifetime members of Centennial Lutheran Church in Superior.
Marian had stories to share about being a nanny, working in the Drug store and the Dime store. Some may remember the tips and sewing lessons they received as they purchased fabrics from her at JC Penney's. Most of all, Marian enjoyed her life of homemaker on the family farm. She had a special knack for gardening, especially when it came to flowers. Her flowers have adorned many family reunions, weddings, birthdays, and found their way into many homes and gardens of family and friends. On numerous occasions they adorned the altar of the church. In her kichen she would work her magic, on all the garden and orchard produce. Quilting, crocheting, and sewing were also her passions. Each grandchild and great-grandchild has a handmade memento from his or her grandmother. She could craft items for all occasions. Marian was also an avid reader. She enjoyed stories about people and places. She could tell you about places all around the world, even though she had not traveled beyond the United States.
Some of Marian's best memories were dancing with Kenny to the Big Bands, traveling the United States to see family and friends, and big family gatherings. She spent many a day sitting on the bleachers at track meets, basketball and volleyball games as she and Kenny traveled across the country following the many activities of their grandchildren.
Marian was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, sisters Shirley Ann Jeppesen and Sylvia Cox, and her parents. She is survived by daughters, Janet (Andersen) Stineman and husband Phil, and Jean (Andersen) Hale all of Lincoln, NE. Six grandchildren: Tracy (Stineman) Wiese and husband John, of Lincoln, NE; Nikki (Stineman) Waldie and husband Jim of Monument, CO; Jodi (Stineman) Emsick and husband Frank of Elkhorn, NE; Kelley (Stineman) Toomey and husband Jim of Lincoln, NE; Jeff Hale of Lincoln, NE and Greg Hale and wife Megan of Phoenix, Arizona.
