Former Roseland resident, Edna Viola (Hansen) Strasburg, 89, passed away Friday, November 30, 2012 at the Blue Hill Care Center, in Blue Hill, NE.

Services will be Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at 10:30 am at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, in Hastings, NE with Rev. Dr. Lee Wigert officiating. Burial will be in the Blue Valley Cemetery, Ayr, NE. Visitation will be Monday, December 03, 2012 from 12 noon to 9 pm at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Edna was born March 13, 1923 to William Eugene and Minnie (Abel) Bantz on a farm near Ainsworth, NE. They moved to Hastings in 1936 after losing their farm in the Dust Bowl. She graduated from the Hastings High School in 1941. She married Wendell Hansen on November 11, 1944 he passed away June 28, 1963. She remarried on May 28, 1966 William “Bill” Strasburg, he passed away August 20, 2001. She had lived in the Roseland area since 1960. They farmed near Roseland. Edna was a cook at Trausch’s Café in Roseland, NE.

She attended the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Roseland, NE.

She loved to play cards, gardening, canning and always acknowledged birthdays and special occasions. Edna always had a smile on her face.

She is survived by, 2 daughters, Carla McLeod and husband David of Omaha, NE, and Nikki Konen and husband Jim of Juniata, NE, 1 step daughter-in-law, Maxine Strasburg of Ayr, NE, 2 step sons, William Strasburg and wife Cathy of Arlington, VA, and Kenneth Strasburg and wife Linda of Albuquerque, New Mexico, 8 grandchildren, 14 step grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 6 great step grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands, Wendell and Bill, 1 son, Harlan Hansen, 1 step-son, Ronald Strasburg, 1 brother, Eugene Bantz and 1 sister, Alma Kaspar.
