Hastings resident, Gilbert W. Lierman, 90, passed away Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Perkins Pavilion Good Samaritan Society-Hastings Village, Hastings, Nebraska.

Memorial Services will be Saturday, December 29, 2012; 10:00 A.M. at Faith Lutheran Church, Hastings with Pastor Paul Dunbar officiating. Burial will be Saturday, December 29, 2012; 2:00 P.M. in Elwood Cemetery, Elwood, Nebraska. Memorials may be given to Crossroads Rescue Mission, Hastings. Book signing 9 A.M. – 5 P.M. Thursday, December 27, 2012 and Friday, December 28, 2012 at the funeral home. There will be no viewing or visitation.

Gilbert was born October 6, 1922 in Eustis, Nebraska to Herman & Marie (Schultz) Lierman. He graduated from Elwood High School. Gilbert served in the U.S. Army from 1942 until 1945 in the Pacific Theater operations. He married Inez Debban on November 8, 1942 at Salem Lutheran Church near Eustis, Nebraska. Gilbert worked for Nebraska Public Power District as a dispatcher until his retirement. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.

Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Viola Reinhardt, Doris Artz and Lorraine Schneider ; brothers, Walter Lierman, Arthur Lierman and Loyal Lierman.

Daughter & Son-in-law: Lisa & David Pettinger – Omaha, NE
Grandchildren & Spouses: Tara & Mike Hassler – Wayne, NE
Garrett Lierman & Josh Park – Philadelphia, PA
Amy & Scott McKenzie – Omaha, NE
Benjamin & Elizabeth Pettinger – Omaha, NE
Jessica & Colby Woods – Omaha, NE
Andrew Pettinger – Omaha, NE
Great-Grandchildren: Abigail McKenzie
David Pettinger

My thoughts and prayers go out to Brian and his family. This is a hard time I got through it by knowing he is in a better place free from pain. Remember good times in the basement playing in the band. God Bless
