Daniel J. Sullivan, IV of Grand Island, Nebraska formerly of Shenandoah, Iowa died Monday, December 24, 2012 at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 29th at the First Presbyterian Church in Shenandoah, IA. Reverend Rick Sleyster will officiate.
To honor Mr. Sullivan’s wishes cremation has taken place. All Faiths Funeral Home of Grand Island is serving the family.
Mr. Sullivan was born December 26, 1927 in Kansas City, MO the son of Daniel J., III and Oka (Thomas) Sullivan.
Survivors are his wife of 63 years, Gloria; son and daughter-in-law, Daniel J., V and Julie Sullivan of Omaha and daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Brad Pattison of Grand Island.
Other survivors are grandchildren, Jessica Ann Sullivan, Daniel J. Sullivan, VI, Megan Pattison and Courtney Pattison.
Mr. Sullivan graduated from Baker University in 1948 and received his Masters Degree from the University of Kansas in 1950. He married Gloria Handy on August 28, 1949. He served as a Sgt in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He worked at Lloyd Laboratories from 1967 and consulted until he was 79 years old as Chief Chemist and Executive Vice President.
As a young man Daniel received his Eagle Scout Award. He was an avid reader and some of his enjoyments included KU Basketball, Kansas City Chiefs Football, and Nebraska Cornhusker Football and loved hiking in the Rocky Mountains.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association.
